Today on CNN, Anderson Cooper commented about the image the Iranian President, Ahmadinejad has of himself. The story stems from the last time Ahmadinejad attended a UN meeting. The meeting was the first time after the revolution in Iran that any president had attended a UN gathering and talked in front of the leaders of the world. It’s been said that Ahmadinejad, being the son of a blacksmith had never been on a plane to any place outside of Iran before his presidency, yet alone flying half across the world to the US. He obviously felt anxious knowing that giving any excuses to the US may lead to the devastation of the Islamic regime in Iran. So when he went back home, in some meetings he described that during his speech at the UN, everybody was mesmerized and no one even blinked an eye. From this story, Anderson Cooper came to the conclusion that Ahmadinejad is messianic and further commented that being messianic and having a nuclear bomb is very scary! President Bush is known as the promoter of war and unrest around the world. Isn’t it scary for a dictator like him to have access to the nuclear bomb??!!!

As the tensions between the US and Pakistan rises as a result of the comment President Bush made about capturing Osama Ben Laden without Pakistani authorities being involved, the Pakistani President shot back today with his side of the story. President Musharraf is been called one of the most important allies of the West in the middle east, hence, putting his life in danger in Pakistan, but his co-operations are still not recognized and appreciated. Today, the Pakistani president claimed that he was forced into co-operating with the US, otherwise he was told by the US officials that his country would be sent back to the stone age! The question remains, what makes it legitimate for the US government to go half across the world and bomb a country without having any permission to do so, yet illegitimate for Hezbollah to kidnap 2 Israeli soldiers from the borders! Why would the United State expect the Pakistani officials to sit quietly while the US bombs their country but resent the actions of Hezbollah for kidnapping two Israeli soldiers from the borders and approve the inhuman action of bombing Lebanon for almost a month! ? Don’t the rules supposed to apply to all the countries under the laws of the United Nation? What makes it ok for some courtiers to bend the rules in their own favour while others must face war and inhuman treatment for bending the same rules?

Ahmadinejad's Speech At The UN

Ahmadinejad, the president of Iran, took the podium on Tuesday at the prime hour in the US to send his massage to the people of the world. The aim of his speech was mainly to sympathize with all the underprivileged countries and to condemn the United Nation for not carrying its functions. Later on Ahmadinejad’s speech by the analysts was translated as harsh and violent and others compared him yet again to Hitler. Here are the objectives Ahmadinejad included in his speech:

1. He accused the United Nation of losing its credibility by allowing some of its members to freely engage in any action that is to their benefit. "Apparently, the Security Council can only be trusted to secure the rights and security of certain big powers."
2. He accused the United Nation to be under the influence of certain countries.
3. He accused the United Nation of promoting differences between different countries, considering some of them as first class and others as second class. He said that under the influence of the United Nation all countries should be treated as equal and have the right to veto.

4. He sympathized with all the poor countries around the world who are being exploited by powerful countries.
5. He talked about the history of Israel’s occupation of Palestinians land and called in unfair.
6. He talked about the Americans occupation of Iraq and creating a civil war while they engage in exploiting Iraq’s natural resources.
7. He talked about Iran’s intentions with regards to uranium- enrichment program and explained it to be a program solely for energy purposes. He further specified that all of Iran’s activities regarding their nuclear developments are transparent and open to inspection.
8. He accused all the countries that already have the Nuclear weapons of promoting unrest and violence in the world and trying to enforce their views on others by threatening them to use their Nuclear weapons.
9. He mentioned that the very countries who are accusing Iran of developing a Nuclear Bomb are those who themselves are armed with the technology and have in fact used it previously!
For the rest of his speech, president Ahmadinejad talked about peace and prosperity on earth. I don’t know based on which one of the above mentioned issues, some of the American analyst came to the conclusion that Ahmadinejad is a Hitler like character and in his speech he promotes war and violence! Perhaps these analysts should be reminded that analyzing the news does not mean putting words into someone’s mouth. They call it “reading between the lines”, well, reading between the lines doesn’t mean you can come up with any bullshit that may please your purpose! After all it was the Pope who has called the Muslims violent and their prophet the promoter of evil and inhumanity. He has not even apologized for his idiotic comments, an action that is very much expected from a Hitler like character!

Pop's Comment About Islam

Pope Benedict’s remarks about the spread of Islam which was cited from the 14th century Byzantine emperor Manuel Paleogus has provoked an unrest in the Muslim countries who believe this to be an attack on Islamic ideology from the Christian church. Exactly what he said to motivate this fury was “ Show me just what Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached”. The question then is, was Islam spread to the world through force and war? And the answer is YES! Take ancient Persia ( Iran) for example! There are many evidences of the harsh treatment of Persians by Arabs when they conquered their cities. For example, in "kazeroun", the birth place of "salman-e-Parsi", the invaders beheaded one thousand non-Muslims everyday. In "kharazm", they band people from speaking Farsi ordering their soldiers to cut off the tongue of anyone who dared to speak Farsi. That is how people of "Kharazm" stopped speaking their mother tongue and the popular "kharazmi" dialect vanished. This is why in Arabic, Iranian people are called "Ajam", meaning mute! Some argue that Prophet Mohammad was against violence and war. In fact Koran states that no one should be forced to convert to Islam through violence but through dialect and persuasion. It was Ali, Mohammad’s son in law who brought war into Islam. In fact, in all his pictures he is depicted as holding a sword.

NONETHELESS, no one, even the Pope, has the right to criticize another religion, especially at a sensitive time like this when Muslims around the world feel as if they are being called into a conspiracy that the Western world has created against Islam. The Pope maybe an scholar on Christianity, but he better keep his mouth shut in regards with issues he has not done the necessary research about. Vatican had one Islamic scholar, and they have send him back to Egypt. This leaves Vatican in no position to make any remarks about Islam. The Pope can not criticize Islam when he hasn’t read the Koran, and the source of his information is the Byzantine emperor. Making such a harsh remark at a time like this was very stupid. His responsibly is to promote peace around the world, not to create more fury and trouble.
On Monday, the head line of many news papers was that “Pope Benedict is deeply sorry”, NOT! The guy is not sorry about what he said, he is sorry that his words caused such brutal reaction amongst the Muslim countries. Not only he is not sorry, he is amazed that Muslims around the world are offended. Well Pope, Israel and the US are going to War with Iran because their president said, and this was taken out of context, that “ the holocaust did not happen”. Words have powerful effects these days and the representative of the Christian world should be more careful about what he blabbers out!

Bush Calls the Powers in The Middle East "Fascist"

Today President Bush announced that the war against Iraq and possibly Iran is a war on “fascism”! Is he kidding? He moves his troops half way across the globe, invades other countries, kills innocent people, ravages their resources, calls them an “Axis of Evil” simply on the basis that they wont sell their oil to the US with cheap prices, and then, he calls them Fascist? Bush is stepping in the footsteps of Hitler but pointing the finger to someone else and in case your wondering, what Israelis, the American’s best friend, did to the Lebanese is simply nothing but genocide! But the Americans don’t think so! Why? No one will admit that they are the followers of Nazi, it simply cant happen to them. Hitler was a crazy man who killed a bunch of innocent people, but Americans have reasons to “defend” themselves against the “fascists”! Way to get brainwashed!

Patrick Buchanan on CNN today expressed his anger towards illegal immigrants while introducing his new book, “State of Emergency”. Buchanan was absolutely annoyed by all the illegal immigrants who come to America and acquire jobs. But there was a bigger twist in his opinion. Just as the Americans had taken away Texas from the Hispanics by over population, Buchanan has reasons to believe that the Hispanic will take California away from the Americans. He specifically pointed out to a soccer game incident where the Mexican fans cheering for their team, made fun of the Americans. Buchanan further expressed that these people immigrate to the US just to get better jobs but don’t respect the Americans. He said, “there are millions of people around the world who want to become Americans. These are the people who should come to America rather than those who immigrate just to find jobs”!
Are there really a lot of people who want to become Americans? Isn’t it true that even Americans use Canadian flags while traveling to prevent getting bashed? And isn’t America the “land of dreams”? The very basis for people’s immigration to the US is and has been to get better jobs, not to become Americans! Quite frankly with all the American foreign policies I don’t believe that anyone would want to immigrate to the US solely to become an American. The Hispanic immigrants are the very people that were kicked out of their land by the Americans. Now they have return to their home land, work and pay taxes to the US government. Is it so wrong for people to hold their beliefs without becoming brain washed in the American melting pot? Why can’t the Americans tolerate anyone but themselves?

The talk show host Oprah Winfrey is in Johannesburg, South Africa today to see the fruits of her $40 million project, aimed at building a school for good students who are underprivileged. The school called the “Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy” is scheduled to open in January and to enroll about 450 students who will also be provided the textbooks, uniforms and meals, all for free!
The initial lay out of this plan started i5 years ago after Oprah had a talk with Mandela about spending $10 million to build a school for under privileged. The project has come a long way since then and has evolved to a big and expensive development. Oprah herself has hand picked all the students through and interview. In an interview with CNN she expressed a euphoric sense of happiness for giving this appropriate gift to Africans.

Iran Involved In Iraq?

Over and over again the Western Media has emphasized the involvement of Iranian Militias in Iraq preventing the American troops from maintaining peace. Today Iraq’s most powerful politician, Abdul Aziz Al Hakim has dismissed the claims by US officials that Iran is interfering in Iraq’s affairs. Hakim claims that he has for three years ask the US officials to provide proof for their accusations, but so far there has not been any responds by the Americans! Aziz further states that the Americans “ are looking for somebody to blame for the failure [of the U.S. military to halt the sectarian killings in Iraq] and it is easy to blame Iran." Pointing the finger to an outside help initially began when the sectarian violence in Iraq became evident. Each side ( Shiite and Sunni) started accusing the other of getting outside help. Sunni leaders claim that the Shiite militias are trained by Iran, and Shiite leaders say Sunni terrorists are funded by Saudi Arabia and Syria. This unrest between the two religious groups grant an excuse to the US troops to point their fingers at the accused countries. But this is really a civil war between the supporters of Saddam, majority of whom are Sunni and the new democratic government in Iraq who are Shiite. It is a power struggle between the past and the current government.
Leaders like Hakim say that rather than blame Iran or the Shi'ite militias, the U.S. military — and Iraqi security forces — should be focusing its energies on defeating the mainly Sunni insurgent and terrorist groups. "The main cause of the violence in Iraq are the Saddamists and [jihadi terrorists]," Hakim said. "We should not be distracted from our main task, which is to destroy these forces. "

If you watched CNN’s situation room on Wednesday, you might have seen an interview of a 23 year old Abdolrahman Khadr, who was born in Canada but had moved to Afghanistan with his family to be brought up in the Al- Qaida camps and become a suicide bomber. His father was reportedly an associate of Osama Ben Ladan and Abdolrahman himself had even played pranks on the most wanted man in the world. He claims that as a kid, he always asked a lot of questions with regards to being a suicide bomber and there was never any concrete answer to his curious questions so he lost faith in the cause. After the occupation of Afghanistan by the American troops following the events of September 11, the members of Abdolrahman’s family were either killed or sent straight to the Guantanamo prison without trials. Abdolrahman was captured and agreed to co-operate with the FBI in order to escape jail time. Abdolrahman explaine that for a number of years he worked for the FBI and he was even asked to go to Iraq, but he refused. He describes working for the FBI very much similar to working for the Al Qaida. “ No one ever answers your questions… you should just do what you are told… very much similar to how Al Qaida operates”. Abdolrahman decided to quit the FBI just as he did Al Qaida and now hopes to live a quiet life!

Terrorist Attack On Taj Mahal

As you know these days it is the trend for every country to come up with some kind of threat of terrorist attack and India is no exception. Soldiers in and around Taj Mahal have been on guard as the officials have received a letter threatening to blow up this beautiful 17th century monument. The letter is reportedly written by a group that supports Al-Qaida but the exact source of the letter has not yet been verified. New Delhi government has issued 100 additional soldiers with weapons to guard the complex. As for tourists, the monuments is not closed but there has been warnings issued with regards to carrying liquids.
The majestic domed monument was built by the Mogul Emperor Shah Jehan between 1632 and 1654 for his favorite wife, Mumtaz Mahal. It houses their graves and a mosque, as well as several graves of lesser Mogul royalty. Considering that the complex is a mosque it is hard to believe that Muslims would blow it up. There are still speculations with regards to the letter being real or just a prank!

60 Minutes Interviews Ahmadinejad

As the war between Israel and Lebanon comes to an end and as Iran approaches the 27th of August, the date which is marked as the day that Iran should stop enriching Uranium, Iran becomes a hot topic on the news. Incidently, CBS showed an interview of Mike Wallace asking President Ahmadinejad about Israel, Bush, Nukes, Iran's position in Iraq and it's support of Hezbollah. I have to say that up until now I thought Ahmadinejad was as dumb as they come ( I of course reside outside of Iran and the news I get is out of CNN and CBS), but this interview changed my mind. He had rational answers and was polite and professional in respond to Wallace’s anxious, angry and scattered questions. I especially liked the part when Wallace directly ordered the president to answer a “yes or no” to his questions and the president said, “well sir you ask a question that is about 3 minutes and you expect a yes or no answer? Is this a multiple choice test or an interview?”
Through out the whole interview Wallace asked questions without listening to answers, and this just proved the presidents intellectual superiority and Wallace’s incompetence, as a Western interviewer who had not done his homework and was completely biased and close minded going into the interview. One part of the interview was especially interesting to me. When asked about why the president called holocaust a myth he answered, “what I said was, if this is real, where did it take place?… In Germany. "Well, if an atrocity was committed in Germany or Europe for that matter, why should the Palestinians answer for this?" the president asked. "They had no role to play in this. Why on the pretext of the Holocaust they have occupied Palestine? Millions of people have been made refugees. Thousands of people to-date have been killed, sir. Thousands of people have been put in prison. Well, at the very moment, a great war is raging because of that." And Wallace’s respond was, "Look if you could — if you could keep your answers concise. Concise. I beg you. We'll get more questions in”! And the last question was, "You have a special unit of martyr seekers in your revolutionary guard. They claim they have 52,000 trained suicide bombers ready to attack American and British targets if America should attack Iran." Ahmadinejad’s reply was, "So, are you expecting the Americans to threaten us and we sit idly by and watch them with our hands … tied?" I guess now we know why president Bush "dismissed" the 18 pages letter that Ahmadinejad wrote to him. Quite simply if Bush had to talk with Ahmadinejad he would be bombarded with facts he doesnt like. For him war is simply more profitable than sitting down and listening to Ahmadinejad quoting Jesus on how Christians should act! Middle East Cease-Fire In Effect

The time has finally come for the Israeli troops to Leave Lebanon and for Hezbollah to stop sending rockets to Northern Israel. People finally get to breath and feel safe, at least temporarily to drive to their homes or find lost families. Many still worry about what is yet to come and are buying food and gas to prepare for yet another war. But here is the catch! As the Israeli troops left Lebanon this morning about 8 am, they distributed leaflets everywhere in Lebanon which says " blame Hezbollah for bringing destruction, displacement and death". Well thats just great. Thank you for killing innocent people and then pointing the finger to someone else! It's like what James Zogby says. What Israel is doing is similar to someone raping a girl and then blaming her for wearing a short skirt!

A Terror Plot Foild in US

Well incase you haven’t noticed yet, all the Arab’s or better said “none- Caucasians” around the world and especially in US are suspects of plotting terrorist attacks! Three men were arrested today in Michigan for buying about 1,000 untraceable cell phones. The men claim that they bought the cell phones so they can re-sale them and make money, but the US authorities have so far accused them of plotting to blow up the Mackinac Bridge in Michigan. The Bridge is about 5 miles long and it connects the two Michigan Peninsulas. The suspects are two brothers, Adham Othman, 22, and Louai Othman, 23, and their 19-year-old cousin, Maruwan Muhareb. The three men are now being held at the Tuscola County Jail. If your an arab and you live in the states please dont breath, otherwise you will be arrested!I will update you about their condition as the news develops.

Iraq To Become A Three State Union

The elevating problems in Iraq has got some politicians thinking that dividing Iraq into three states is the best way to go! The Anti-war US politicians believe that here we are announcing that we are at war with terrorism yet, our troops are in Iraq caught in the civil war. So their solution is to divide Iraq into Shia, Sunni and Kurd sects and let them each have their own government and military system. This way Iraq would be like all those little countries who were once part of the bigger Soviet Union who are now struggling to strive and controlling and exploiting them would be much easier for the West. Excellent Idea! Needless to say, that all these groups that are currently at war with each other in Iraq, used to live harmoniously in and around each other while Saddam was in power. But US doesn’t like to see a country in the middle east getting to strong and independent, so, the very minute they feel a power growing in the middle east they make some sort of excuse to get themselves involved. The same thing happened with Iran during the 1979 revolution and will probably happen again in the next couple of month as Iran too is becoming a major player in the middle east! So from now on, not only we are going to be hearing about the wars between Israel and Lebanon, Israel and Palestine and Israel and Egypt, we are also going to be hearing about wars between the Shia, Sunni and Kurds of Iraq. And while these poor bastards are busy fighting each other, US sells them its outdated military units and exploit’s the oil.

UN Approves End to Conflict While Israel Expands Military Offensive

Today the UN unanimously voted in favor of putting an end to the conflict in the Middle East. While the UN was coming up with a resolution to end the fighting, Israel has ordered a massive ground invasion of Lebanon up to the Litani River. The Israeli Security Cabinet is hopeful to sign the six-page UN resolution but they have about 24 to 42 hours to "disarm Hezbollah", or kill more innocent people and damage more cities. Hezbollah has not responded to the proposal yet, but it is assumed that since they have representatives in the Lebanese cabinet, by signing the resolution they are agreeing to the terms of the peace! The measure calls for the unconditional return of the two kidnapped Israeli soldiers, increasing the number of UN troops in the area to about 15,000 and to disarm Hezbollah by both destroying their weapons and cutting their supplies from Syria and Iran.
With all the political developments the war is still not over for the Lebanese and they are still holding their breath. The ground invasion by Israel would also lead to more death on both parties, and even harder resilience from Hezbollah and more ruthless behavior from Israel as they reach the end of the war. Many believe that the ground invasion is unnecessary since so far Israel's attempts to disable Hezbollah's rockets shot into Israel has failed. Every day the same amount of rockets are sent to Israel, even though Israel has claimed Lebanon almost up to the Litani River! The war has so far cost about 2.5 billion dollars for Lebanon and it will take years to rebuilt this young country.

Airports On High Alert

24 men of Pakistani origin have been arrested overnight in Britain, acccused of plotting to blow up about 10 jets with American passangers simultaneously! The officials have compared this plot to the 9/11 conducted by Al Qaeda. But some say this could be what is called a home grown terrorist action. These days one doesn't have to be a part of Al Qaeda to act like one. All they have to share with them is the idealogy. Among those who were arrested, two of the suspects had recently traveled to Pakistan where they were provided with money. One suspect was a Muslim charity worker and a Heathrow Airport employee who had an access pass to all areas of the the Heathrow airport. The plan was to mix an sport drink with a gel like substance to make an explosive cocktail that could be ignited with an MP3 player or cell phone. As many as 50 people were involved in the plot and authorities have made a number of arrests in Pakistan as well. All the Airports have raised the terror threat level to "severe", and there are delays and cancelled flights, especially to the United States. Could have this been a real threat or another excuse for Bush and Israel to prove their mass murder of innocent people legitimate?

The threat of this terrorist attack provoked new rules in the airports with respect to what the passengers can and can't take with themselves on the plane. Here is a list of items banned abroad planes in Britian:

• All liquids, except medicine and baby formula verified as authentic.
• Food bought at airport.
• Handbags.
• All electrical and battery-powered items, including laptop computers, mobile phones and iPods.
• Electric key fobs.
• Wheelchairs, except those provided by airport.

Items permitted in cabin, carried in clear plastic bag:
• Pocket-size wallets and purses containing money, ID and credit cards.
• Passports and tickets.
• Prescription medicine and medical items.
• Glasses and sunglasses, but not cases.

What Do Israeli's Think About the War

Just the look at the interviews here and there, the Israeli’s are saddened by the loss of family but believe that the Israeli troops should stay in Lebanon and fight until Hezbollah is disarmed. One man even made a comment that he thinks for every Israeli killed 10,000 Lebanese should be killed! I don’t know what makes the life of an Israeli more valuable and fruitful than the life of a Lebanese! I don’t know who disguises himself as the promoter of democracy while holding Hitler like ideologies either! Its tiring to see that Israel has used the excuse of “we are the chosen people” and the holocaust to enforce their will and policies on others. I am an atheist and don’t believe in God, religion or any of that load of crap, but if there was a god wouldn’t he create all his beings equally? What makes the Jews the chosen people and the Muslims the rag headed terrorists? The war in the middle east is presumably a war on states and not religions. But Israeli’s make it about religion. A Jewish clergy man whose name I do not recall at the moment had a meeting with the Israeli prime minister today, praising him on the war and promoting further killing of innocent people. Apparently killing innocent people just on the bases of being the “chosen people”, as he put it, is legitimate.

Terror Attack On UK

There are high alarts in UK today, especially in the airports as the London Metropolitan Police arrested several people thought guilty of plotting to explode devices carried abroad planes in hand bags. The threats were especially aimed at flights from Britian to the United States. This latest news will creat chaos in the airports today and new luggage rules have been presented. Bloodiest Day For Israel

As the war between Israel and Hezbollah enters its second month, Hezbollah keeps hitting the targets and Israel keeps missing them with sites filled with civilians. Today Hezbollah militia killed at least 16 Israeli soldiers in a Lebanese town of Aita Al-Shaab. Israel responded by airstrikes on the suburbs of Beirut. The Israeli’s decided that a wider ground invasion is in their favor. A plan that will be followed in the next couple of days with the rest of the world still debating on the nature of the ceased fire. Arab nations have called the already written terms of ceased fire by US and Israel bias and call for a revision. They support Lebanon’s wish in that, for a cease fire to proceed all Israeli troops have to leave Lebanon’s territories. The Israeli’s troops conduct of placing an Israeli flag in Lebanese cities after “clearing them of Hezbollah” has been criticized heavily as an act of invasion and needs immediate attention. Also there have been reports of the Hezbollah militia to strike again from the cities that Israel has invaded and “cleared of Hezbollah fighters” , proving that the presence of Israeli troops in the area does not guarantee the destruction of Hezbollah.

The Death Road ( Violation of Geneva Conventions)

The southern city of Tyre on the south of the Litani River has been the subject of many Israeli airstrikes in the past 24 hours since it is believed to be the way from which Hezbollah smuggles its rockets and military ammunitions. Israel has simply announced that it will hit any targets ( cars, horses, donkeys) moving south of the Litani River. This leaves little choice for those trying to leave Tyre, so people are stuck! What Israel does is contradictory to what it says it wishes to do. On the one hand they say the troops encourage all the Lebanese in these areas to leave the cities, on the other hand they bomb any activities on the roads. This also makes the job of the UN and Red Cross helpers in the area very difficult as the president of the International Committee of Red Cross, Jakob Kellenberger, complained of the difficulties of arranging passages to southern Lebanon. He accused Israel of violating the Geneva Conventions and said that dropping leaflets into an area is not enough. He further said in a news conference in Tyre that , “By letting down leaflets you cannot get rid of your responsibilities under international law”. There have been talks about “freedom of movement” in the area in the near future. Meanwhile even a donkey on the roads is considered to be a potential helper of the Hezbollah militia.

The Lebanese official government has offered to send it’s troops down to southern Lebanon and stop the fighting on the condition that Israel leave’s Lebanon’s territories. Hezbollah has agreed to the plan but Israel and US are skeptical of the consequences. They believe that Hezbollah has announced its readiness to co-operate too eagerly which may be because the plan is to their advantage. They also worry because 30% of the Lebanese official army are the supporters of Hezbollah and this collaboration may further provide the possibility for Hezbollah to receive supplies from Syrian and Iran. The news of the readiness of the Lebanese troops to contribute came during the time when US was working on a cease fire plan. A plan that does not appeal to Lebanon. What Lebanon wants is for the Israeli troops to leave it’s territories. The Arab nations seems to be on the side of Lebanon on this issue which further delays the developments leading to a ceade fire!

Terror Management in the War Zone : Shiites Vs. Sunnis

In the first portion of this entery, I take up the discussion about the Terror Management Theory and explain it in an explicitly theoretical manner. I follow this with a demonstration of information acquired from previous research on the mentioned topic and it's relevance to the current situation in Iraq.

Terror Management Theory ( TMT)
In his 1974 book The Denial of Death, Ernest Becker developed the idea that as humans we are inevitably aware of our own impending death. In order to escape this terror, humans develop an illusion of immortality through psychological "buffers" such as religious beliefs, social connections to groups or individuals or through creating objects that would succeed them.

"The idea of death, the fear of it, haunts the human animal like nothing else; it is a mainspring of human activity-designed largely to avoid the fatality of death, to overcome it by denying in some way that it is the final destiny of man." Ernest Becker

Solomon and two of his colleagues, Pyszynski and Greenberg, then elaborated on the TMT by engaging in empirical work with an emphasis on "mortality salience" ( MS). Parallel to the idea of MS, reminding subjects of their mortality encourage them to engage in five frequent behavioural responses. These responses are, worldview defense, harsher evaluations of moral transgressors, increased aggression towards the out-gourps, increased ethnocentrism, and increased self esteem enhancement. Since the length of this entry is limited i will only elaborate on two of thse five "buffers" in response to stimuli that reminds one of their own death.
There have been many attempts to uncover the mystery behind the "adherence to and defense of national idiologies and values and intolerance and hostility towards dissimilar others" ( Leary et al 1997). However, few have sought to ask about the consequences of having a constant reminder of death such as the frequent killings in cities of Iraq and its effect on ethnocentrism and increased aggression against the out-goup members.
Previous research has emphasized on "increased support of one's nationalist, religious, or secular idiology, disliking dissimilar others, supporting ethnic stereotypes, denigrating or distancing oneself towards the idiology of the out-group, ingratiating oneself to heroes or those who bloster the views of the in-group, intensifying altruistic tendecies towards the in-group, or proposing greater punishment for those who violate the norms of the in-group". ( Leary et al 1997).
The events of September 11 have brought the TMT once again back to the spotlights and many papers have been written about the effects of this faithful event on "incrasing in-group affiliation and hostility and aggression towards the out-group and the increased liking of the in-group members who conform the cultural expectations" ( Landau et al 2004). Furthermore, they have concluded that fear of therrorism leads to increased support for standing leaders such as president Bush.
The only observations considering TMT in the war zone included one under the supervision of Dr. Dechesne who applied the TMT to some problems that the multinational troops were having while serving on a peace-keeping mission in Kabul, Afghanistan. The problem was that although Dutch and German troops have been working well together on various joint missions, when they got to Kabul, positive relations seemed to be breaking down and old national rivalries seemed to be coming to the surface. The findings implicated that the higher the soldiers scored on a fear of death scale, the more negative their attitudes toward working with soldiers from other European countries. Another study that will be hinting on the TMT during war time is an upcoming research which will address the promotion of suicidal behaviour in respond to constant reminders of death ( Winerman 2005). Further, although some research has been done with regards to the responses of the trained military occupants in the war zone, nothing has been done to consider the reaction of the lay people who are not trained professionals in dealing with the fear of death in respond to constant reminders of death. Also most researches have concentrated on how the shocking events of September 11 has lead to nationalism and the voting results leading to the victory of president Bush, none has pondered on the out comes of this war on the increased nationalism, intolerance of dissents, hostility towards those who are different and need for heroes in the Iraqi population. Rather, the political policy is to show the unrest in Iraq as an outbreak of a civil war and the invaders ( Americans) are simply portrayed as the neutral foreign party who are risking their lives to promote peace and understanding between people who, up until the point of occupation, were very peacful and understanding indeed.
My ideas convey that being exposed to frequent instances of death will create increased ethnocentrism and aggression against attitudinally dissimilar others just as it has been proven in previous studies. To elaborate on this point i will further discribe the recent conflicts between Sunnis and Shia in Iraq. Just today two suicide bombers caused the death of about 75 Shia muslims in a Shia Mosque.
I think that the attack of the Unisted State of America on Iraq and the removal of the tyranny of Saddam Hossein has created an opportunity for the minority groups to gain a will of their own and the extremists to become more segregated towards the opposite points of their belief systems.
This civil war is being promoted by the two religious groups of Iraq the Shia and the Sunnis. From the blogs I read over time i concluded that unlike the current situation where a division of religious rules over Iraq, previously the Shia and Sunnis used to live together. The mass Iraqi population was brought up to believe that "people who discriminated in any way- positively or negatively- based on sect or ethnicity were backwards, uneducated and uncivilized.. most people simply didn't go around making friends or socializing with neighbours based on their religions" ( Rose' Blog ).
The frequent encounters with death has shoved the initial indifferences between the Shia and Sunnis to more extreme points, Under the influence of MS each group underwent the urge to identify more closely to the ideologies held by its religious leaders and denigrate those who criticize their popularly held beliefs. The denigration was pursued by suicide bombings and hostility towards the out-group. This in turn led to a civil war in Iraq which indorsed an even more extreme division between the Sunnis and the Shias; now people "pick up their things to move to ' Sunni neighbourhoods' or 'Shia neighbourhoods'" (Rose' Blog). In their Mosques, the religious figures hold meetings that promote poisonous anti- Shia or anti- Sunni teachings and create untrue stereotypes against the out-group.
In conclusion, I am attempting to suggest that frequent reminders of death in the war zone leads to the promotion of indifferences between opposite religious groups and causes an enhancement in the ideologies of the in-group while creating unfavourable attitude towards the out-group. This hypothesis could also be tested on the effects of MS on the attitudes that Iraqis hold agains the invaders ( US Soldiers).

CNN has been showing back to back episodes of Barrack bombigs emphasizing on American's innocence and the evilness of Hezbollah. For those of you who werent born at the time like myself, Barrack bombing was an act of "terrorism" on an American building that was occupied by American Marines who had entered Lebanon to keep peace! The bombing killed 250 Americans and was later blamed on Hezbollah, although Hezbollah never really pledged guilty. The reason for which the American marines had been in Lebanon is not fully clear. As far as the world is concerned they are not the UN, so why should they be in Lebanon to promote peace? To the Lebanese, Americans= Isreal so when an American troop goes into Lebanon and sets camp, they should be aware of the occupational hazards! Anyways, I am rambling! The point is, US media is trying to waken the bitter memories of Barracks insident to gain the support of Americans in legitimizing its presence in the Middle East and perhaps sending their troops to Lebanon a little later!

A 30 year old muslim called Navid Afzal Haq who is apparently of Pakistani descent walked into a Jewish center in Seattle and shot 5 people. Later on he surrendered after killing one women and wounding 4 others. What promoted such an act of hatred? Haq pointed out to 3 reasons; U.S. involvement in Iraq; the U.S. backing of Israel; and what Haq said was the mistreatment of the Pakistani people. If Haq was lebanese and he had just lost his family in Lebanon by the Israeli troops I would have felt more sympathy for him! 1994 was the year that the Rwandan Genocide took place. It lead to the death of an estimated 800,000 to 1,071,000 Tutsis and moderate Hutus in Rwanda, mostly carried out by the extremist Hutu militia. US and UN knew well in advance that a genocide is underway but didn't stop the war! But why not? As they claim they are the promoters of freedom and democracy so why not stop the genocide? I have seen many adds these past days that says "help Isreali victims"! Are you kidding me? Lebanon's capital has been under fire for 18 days, they dont bury the deads anymore and if they do they do it in mass graves dug by bulldozers! Close to 500,000 citizens have deserted their homes and moved to Syria, you wanna worry about the 10 Isreali who are in the hospital?

US, UK and Israel should be stripped of their military powers for commiting the same crimes that Japan and Germany were guilty of!

The heroic American soldiers who helped the American citizens to flee Lebanon only did so with the condition that the evacuees pay the US government the cost of the evacuation within 90 days!
US keeps emphasizing that Isreal does not want any military help from them. But they have moved all their navel ships to the Mediterranean using the excuse that the military ships are the only way they could process their plan of evacuation of US citizens from Lebanon. But now after the evacuation is done, they will remain there "just in case". The American soldeirs in Iraq have had their service in Iraq extended for at least another 4 month! Why? They might be needed as reserves for Isreal!
Isreal is the only country that has some kind of an issue with ALL of its neighbours!

In 1967 Israel conquered the West Bank, Gaza Strip, Sinai Peninsula, and Golan Heights. These territories are in Egypt, Palestine, Syria and Lebanon.

In 1982, Israel launched an attack against Lebanon, which had been embroiled in the Lebanese Civil War since 1975. The official reason for the attack was to defend Israel's northernmost settlements from terrorist attacks, which had been occurring frequently. However, after establishing a forty-kilometer barrier zone, the IDF continued northward and even captured the capital, Beirut. Though Israel withdrew from most of Lebanon in 1986, a buffer zone was maintained until May 2000 when Israel unilaterally withdrew from Lebanon.

To be fair to Israel in 1947 they were given a small territory by the UN and most Israeli's lived in other countires. So when after the second WW and the breaking down of Soviet the Jews returned to Isreal, the territory was too small for them so they decided to take bits and pieces of other countries. When you try to expand your borders you will face resistant by the defenders and hence all the wars we have been witnessing!

Jack Cafferty of CNN was talking about the new Al qaeda video release calling upon all the Musilms of the world to unite and fight Isreal. He made an analogy that is also very much useful when looking at US's reaction to matters. He said that Al Qaeda is like a little brat who has gone shopping with his mother to the super market and his mother is busy shopping so he starts crying and pounding his feet on the floor to get some attention. Meaning that with all the focus being on Hezbollah, Al Qaeda now feels left out and just released this video to get some attention. The same analogy applies to US. They saw the middle east strengthening their ties with the two super powers of the East, Russia and China, so they felt left out. To be in the game they used the excuse of freeing the world of terrorists and occupied Afghanistan and Iraq and have further plans for Iran and Syria!

These wars will further promote the growth of radical Islamic groups!

If Bush really wants to succeed in the Middle East he should declair war on all muslims. Shiite and Sunni Muslims will unite to fight Bush. Then Bush should fake a defeat and withrawl from middle east and leave the Shiite and Sunni's to fight a civil war over power in the region. While the two groups are busy fighting each other, US should move in and exploit the resources!

Many believe that we are witnessing what is to be the onset of the 3rd WW. If true the Nostradamus's predictions have come true and we should also be waiting for a big earthquake in Japan that will disable the economy. Although the Cascadian earthquak that happens almost every 100 years is long over due, and perhaps we should be more worried about ourselves!

Hezbollah Hit's Deeper Than Ever

Hezbollah has tried a new approach to the war in the past 24 hours. They have been hitting the city of Afula south east of Haifa with rockets that are said to be a modification of the Katyushas they have been using so far. The down side is of course that these rockets can travel further, but the good news is that these rockets have to be carried on trucks and need to take positions to hit their target. This will allow Israel to identify the range from which the rockets have been fired and put an end to their blind shooting against an enemy they can not see!

Bush believes that US is the department of justic and he is the supreme judge deciding the fate of the world. Iraqi people never sent a request to him to help them escape Saddam's dictatorship. Iraq's President Doesn't Manage to Please US

Iraq's Prime Minister Nuri Al Maliki met up with US congress today and presented himself with a speech that wasn't all too impressive for the Democrats. Al Maliki announced that Iraq would like to play a more major role in the Midlle East and breifly talked about the differences between true Islam and radical Islam. He did not however, "directly" talk about the war between Hezbollah and Israel and did not take sides. As a result, his whole speech was disregarded because he did not talk exactly about what US wanted him to talk about. Later in the day he was critisized heavily by the Democrats who called on him to condemn Hezbollah and to apologize for denouncing "Israeli aggression." Have you heard of freedom of speech? Iran Has the Upper Hand

Iranians have wondered for years about how the Islamic government of Iran manages to survive year after year for an ungoing 27 years after overthrowing Shah in the 1979 revolution. Well let me tell you why! They are the Americans of Middle East. They plan ahead and play a chess game with other countries. As it has been mentioned in the news for the past 10 months, Iran is trying to advance it's nuclear energy and possibly come up with a nuclear bomb that they have promissed to be wasted on the "Zionist" Israel for all the pain they have caused the Muslims. The radical democrats in US believe that Iran is the main motivator of this war in the Middle East. They believe that just days before Iran's profile was going to the UN for further decisions regarding their nuclear power, the Iranian government used it's close ties with the Hezbollah and kidnapped two Israeli soldiers to initiate unrest in the area.

Iran would also be the best candidate to stop Hezbollah from continuing on with the war. But no one except Syria has a direct contact with Iran's government and initiating meetings to resolve the war will be very difficult. Other than that, we all know what Iran will request in return for ordering Hezbollah to stop bombing Isreal. DINGGG! They will want the world's permission to build their nuclear bombs and thats just not something that US and Israel would allow! This leaves the world without any control on Hezbollah and the war will continue till one county manages to wipe out the other...

US Evacuees Have to Pay Fees

Apparently the evacuees who were leaving Beirut to seek safty in Cyprus were being asked to sign a promissory note, pledging to repay the U.S. government within 90 days for the costs of their evacuation. The paperwork in Beirut sent tempers through the roof in Washington, not to mention among some under fire in Lebanon who were asked to sign the notes. Another words the US soldiers asked their own citizens to pay for the evacuation or die in Lebanan. So much for humanitarian efforts! US marines did good business this past week! That's just rediculous!

Lebanese Prime Minister Talks

But today, he finally broke his silence and described his country as a "disaster zone".
